1. What will the business actually do?

Describe your first product or service in plain language. Who will pay you, where will you operate and how will you deliver the work? A clear operating model helps guide the rest of the setup. Avoid selecting a broad activity merely because it seems flexible; the description should reflect the business you intend to run.

2. Who owns what?

Discuss share ownership before submitting registration information. Record what each founder contributes, how decisions will be made and how disagreements will be handled. If one founder supplies money while another manages operations, make those expectations explicit. For complex arrangements, obtain suitable professional advice on a shareholder agreement.

3. Who will take responsibility?

ACRA requires a local company to have at least one director meeting local residency requirements. A company secretary must be appointed within six months of registration, and the sole director cannot also be the secretary. Do not treat these roles as names on a form. Agree who will handle correspondence, maintain records and coordinate compliance work.

4. What information needs preparing?

ACRA’s registration guidance lists the company name, officers and shareholders among the information needed. Review its full checklist for your structure. Collect information through an appropriate secure channel and check spelling, addresses and proposed roles together. If a detail is uncertain, resolve it before submission rather than allowing different versions to circulate.

5. What needs to happen after registration?

Create a separate launch checklist for banking, bookkeeping, contracts, premises and any activity-specific licences. Incorporation alone does not establish that every business activity can begin immediately. Allocate an owner to each task and build a realistic sequence: for example, decide who can approve payments before configuring banking access.

6. What does the service fee cover?

Ask for a written scope that distinguishes setup assistance from ongoing services and external charges. Clarify who handles later changes, reminders and document storage. Keep access to your company’s records and understand which provider is responsible for each filing. Trust Vision can help you organise the incorporation discussion and prepare the information needed for your next step.
